Calling all Super Hero Citizens: We Need Your Help
The COVID-19 virus has impacted communities around the globe, hitting especially hard in dense cities like our hometown of Seattle. After reaching out to healthcare workers in our area, we learned that due to the heightened risk, visitors are not allowed into hospital rooms. This means that the COVID-19 virus patients in the acute care wards and ICUs (Intensive Care Units) – as well as patients suffering from non-related ailments – often have no way of staying in contact with family and friends while receiving treatment.
Tragically, in an increasing number of cases, patients succumb to their condition and pass away alone, without emotional support from their loved ones or even the chance to say goodbye.
We’re working quickly to change that story by donating smart tablets to hospitals. Hospital staff will facilitate use of the tablets, giving patients the ability to video chat with their family and friends while in quarantine, and helping to ensure that they receive as much love and connection as possible during these difficult times.
We are piloting the program with University of Washington Medicine’s local hospitals. After testing and feedback, we have decided to donate the Lenova Tab E8, which has a low price point and is simple to integrate with their current system. Once completed, we aim to rapidly expand to other regions of the US, with focus on areas – big and small – that are being hit the hardest.
